Easy Nursery Décor

It is that time of month again; time for another Third Sunday Market. This market will be on October 16th and I feel a little more prepared for the market itself. Last month did not go as well as I had hoped. Keri and I only sold a couple of handmade items, the rest was just random crap that was taking up space in our homes. It was a little bit of a let down, but we did meet some awesome people. Our neighbors were especially nice and they said don't get discouraged, they never do well in September (that would have been nice to know). We have decided to give it another shot this month and we will see how it goes from here. My dear husband and my mom have both generously offered to help this time around. I am looking forward to it.

One thing that I had been putting off until recently, was nursery décor. Since I am now 22 week pregnant, I figured it was probably time to get going on baby things even if I can't move my office for another month. Somehow, I managed to finish my baby registry by this point, and even if I haven't made it to my third trimester, I highly recommend getting this step done early. You will be overwhelmed, so it is just a good idea to at least start early and then you finish as you feel like it.

I was perusing Pinterest one day and I stumbled across the cutest nursery décor for a fabric giraffe (it can be found here.) So naturally, I Pinned it. Then my mom and I were looking at Michaels for a "container" to store all of my scrapbook paper in and I stumbled across frames that were on sale. I loved the gray ones, like this. Then my mom picked out a yellow and said this would be cute in your nursery. The walls are already painted turquoise so I thought if it was a boy or girl, these frames could work. Anyway, since I have a Cricut and I had the Animal Kingdom cartridge already loaded into my design space. I decided to make my own cute critters.

To make these cute frames, you will need:

Paper-the amount and colors you need will be dependent on what animal you choose.

  • Tiger- 1 Black and 1 Orange 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Lion- 1 Yellow and 1 Brown 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Elephant- 1 Gray and 1 White 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Rhinoceros- 1 Gray and 1 White (use the leftover white from the elephant) 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Monkey- 1 Brown, 1 yellow and 1 White 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Giraffe- 1 Yellow and 1 Brown 8 ½ x 11 sheets

  • Background paper- 6 12x12 sheets

Cricut Cartridge- Animal Kingdom

Glue squares (these are my favorite things ever!)

Sharpie

With my computer, I designed all animals on separate layers. After cutting each layer out, I traced the cut areas with sharpie to make them stand out more.

I can't wait to hang these up in the baby's room!
